Slimqa Slim Coffee Booster Ingredients: Every Amount per Stick

Slimqa Slim Coffee Booster box and stick

Five key ingredients, one 2 g stick and every amount printed on the box. Here is what each Slimqa ingredient is, where it shows up in everyday food and how much a stick contains.

A label tells you far more than a headline can. This guide goes through the Slimqa Supplement Facts one line at a time, in plain language. If you are new to the product, the Slimqa home page gives the short version first.

What is in a Slimqa stick?

One box has 30 sticks. Each stick weighs 2 g and has 5 calories. These are the active ingredients per stick:

Mcg means micrograms. One microgram is a thousandth of a milligram, which is the normal unit for trace minerals. On the product page the Daily Value column shows a dash, because the manufacturer gives the amounts only and the stick is not presented as a source of daily nutrition.

What is chromium picolinate?

Chromium is an essential trace mineral, which means the body needs it only in tiny amounts. Foods that contain it include broccoli, whole grains, potatoes, nuts and some meats. Picolinate is the form the mineral is bound to, a common choice in supplements. Each stick provides 100 mcg. Because the body needs so little, it is easy to see why the number is small. Our chromium and caffeine guide looks at both in more depth.

What is caffeine, and how much is in a stick?

Caffeine is a natural compound found in coffee beans, tea leaves and cacao. It is also added to many drinks. Each Slimqa stick contains 120 mg, similar to a medium cup of brewed coffee, depending on the roast and the cup size.

Think of the stick as one of your caffeinated drinks for the day, not an extra on top. If you already have a double-double on the way to work, a coffee at lunch and a cola in the afternoon, adding a stick means a lot more caffeine than you may be used to. Health Canada's general guidance for healthy adults is to stay at or below 400 mg a day from all sources.

What is green coffee extract?

Green coffee beans are coffee beans before roasting. The extract is made from those unroasted beans and is dried to a fine powder. Each stick has 100 mg. Roasting changes the flavour and the chemistry of the bean, so green coffee extract is not the same thing as the instant coffee in your cupboard. You can learn more in the green coffee extract guide.

What is L-carnitine?

L-carnitine is an amino acid compound that the body makes on its own. It also turns up in food, mainly in meat and fish and in smaller amounts in milk and dairy products. Plant foods contain very little, which is one reason carnitine often appears in supplements aimed at vegans and vegetarians. A Slimqa stick provides 300 mg.

What is curcumin?

Curcumin is the main pigment in turmeric, the golden spice in curries and golden milk. Turmeric root itself holds only a small share of curcumin, so supplements use an extract. Slimqa uses a turmeric extract standardized to 95% curcuminoids and provides 100 mg of curcumin per stick.

The black pepper extract in the formula is there alongside it. Black pepper and turmeric are a classic pairing in the kitchen too, and that is the combination you see here.

A note of care: if you have a gallbladder, bile duct or liver condition, or if you take blood thinners, ask a health care practitioner before using any product with curcumin. The L-carnitine and curcumin guide covers this in more detail.

What are the other ingredients?

These are listed as non-medicinal ingredients:

The manufacturer lists the product as vegan, gluten-free and non-GMO. Anyone with a specific allergy or sensitivity should always read the box in hand and ask a pharmacist if in doubt.

How do the amounts compare with ordinary food?

It helps to picture a stick next to a normal day of eating. L-carnitine at 300 mg is the sort of amount you could meet through a portion of beef over a few days, although intake varies widely from person to person. Chromium appears in grains and vegetables in small traces. Caffeine is the one ingredient where the comparison is easy: a medium coffee and a stick sit in the same range. That is exactly why counting your total matters.

How should you read the label?

  1. Find the serving size: one stick, 2 g.
  2. Check the amount of each active ingredient and the unit (mcg or mg).
  3. Look for the caffeine and curcumin notes.
  4. Read the non-medicinal ingredients if you have allergies.
  5. Compare the website with the box and trust the box.

Once you are happy with what is inside, the how to take it guide covers the daily routine.

Frequently asked label questions in more detail

Why are the units different? Chromium is shown in micrograms because it is needed in tiny amounts, while the other four are in milligrams. A milligram is a thousand times bigger than a microgram, so 100 mcg of chromium is far smaller than 100 mg of curcumin, even though the numbers match.

Why is there no Daily Value for most ingredients? Daily Values exist for vitamins and minerals with established reference amounts. Caffeine, green coffee extract, L-carnitine and curcumin do not have one, so the table simply gives the amount in each stick.

Is a stick the same as a cup of coffee? Only in caffeine terms. A cup of coffee is a drink with its own flavour and compounds, while a stick adds a measured set of extra ingredients to it.

Can I check the figures myself? Yes. Every number on this page is taken from the Supplement Facts panel on the box. Keep the box handy and compare it with the table above.
