Slimqa sticks contain 100 mg of green coffee bean extract next to the roasted-coffee ritual you already know. Here is what the ingredient is, how it differs from your morning cup, and what the label does and does not tell you.
Coffee beans start out green, not brown. That small fact is the key to understanding this ingredient. In this guide we describe green coffee bean extract as it appears in Slimqa Slim Coffee Booster, with no promises attached. For the product overview, head to the Slimqa home page.
Where green coffee comes from
Coffee grows on evergreen shrubs and small trees in warm regions: Brazil, Colombia, Ethiopia, Vietnam and Central America are all famous for it. The fruit, called a coffee cherry, is red when ripe. Inside each cherry sit two seeds. Those seeds are what we call coffee beans, and straight out of the cherry they are green, hard and rather grassy-smelling.
Nearly all the coffee sold in American stores is roasted, which turns the beans brown, brings out the aroma and changes the chemistry along the way. A green coffee bean is simply one that never went into the roaster.
What is an extract?
An extract is made by taking a plant material and drawing out its soluble components, usually with water or a food-grade solvent, then drying the result into a powder. The aim is a concentrated, consistent ingredient that is easy to measure out. That is why a stick can hold 100 mg of green coffee bean extract and still weigh only 2 grams in total.
What is in a stick, exactly?
| Ingredient | Per stick (2 g) | % DV |
|---|---|---|
| Green coffee bean extract | 100 mg | Not established |
| Caffeine | 120 mg | Not established |
| Chromium (as chromium picolinate) | 100 mcg | 286% |
| L-carnitine | 300 mg | Not established |
| Curcumin (95% curcuminoids) | 100 mg | Not established |
There is no Daily Value for green coffee bean extract, so the label gives the amount in milligrams and nothing more. We do not attach any health statements to it on this site. We tell you what it is and how much is in a stick.
Green coffee versus the coffee in your mug
- Color and smell. Green beans are pale and smell earthy. Roasted beans are dark and smell like a coffee shop.
- Taste. A cup brewed from raw green beans tastes vegetal and mild, nothing like a cappuccino. An extract is processed so that it blends into a powder, and Slimqa also includes natural flavor and stevia leaf extract.
- Plant compounds. Green coffee naturally contains chlorogenic acids, a family of plant compounds that drop considerably during roasting. Roasting is also where most of the coffee aroma is born.
- Caffeine. Coffee beans contain caffeine whether green or roasted, so an extract can contain some as well.
What about the caffeine?
Because coffee contains caffeine, the extract may carry a little of its own. The Slimqa label states the caffeine for the whole stick as one figure, 120 mg. That is the number to use when you add up your day, and you do not need to guess how it divides between ingredients. For comparison, an 8 oz cup of brewed coffee has about 95 mg and a 12 oz cola about 34 mg. Our chromium and caffeine guide has a longer comparison list.

Discover Slimqa now Dietary supplement. Contains 120 mg of caffeine per stick. Adults only (18+). Not a substitute for a varied, balanced diet.Arabica or robusta?
You might wonder which coffee species is behind the extract. The two big ones are arabica, prized for a smooth, slightly sweet cup, and robusta, which is stronger, more bitter and higher in caffeine. The Slimqa label does not say which one is used, so we will not guess. If the source matters to you, ask the manufacturer through the contact details on its order page.
How the extract fits the stick
A Slimqa stick is a single-serve powder. It combines the five actives with inulin (chicory root fiber), natural flavor, stevia leaf extract and black pepper extract. Stir it into a cup of hot or iced coffee, or into a glass of water. Because the stick carries its own caffeine, some people prefer water on days when they have already had a few cups. The page on how to take Slimqa goes through the options.
A Sunday morning example
Picture a slow weekend: a pour-over at the kitchen counter, the newspaper, no rush. A stick stirred into that cup is one way to use it. Now picture a Tuesday: a travel mug in the car and a long commute. The same stick can go into a glass of water at your desk instead. Either way, the ingredient list is identical, and so is the serving: one stick per day.
How green coffee extract is typically made
The process is easier to picture than the name suggests. Ripe cherries are harvested, the seeds are separated from the fruit and dried, and those dried green seeds are ground. The ground material is then steeped in a liquid, much as you would make a very strong tea, and the liquid is filtered and dried into a fine powder. Manufacturers differ in the details, such as the solvent and the drying method, and the Slimqa label does not describe them, so we stay with the general picture.
Why you will not smell coffee in the powder
People sometimes expect an ingredient with "coffee" in its name to smell like a coffee shop. That aroma comes from roasting, which green coffee skips. With only 100 mg of extract in a 2 g stick, the scent is faint. The flavor you notice in a cup comes from your own coffee, helped by the stick's natural flavor and stevia leaf extract.
Reading the word "extract" on any label
You will meet the same word on many supplement panels, so it helps to know what it tells you and what it does not. It tells you the ingredient is a concentrated powder made from a plant. It does not tell you the plant's species, the growing region or the harvest year. When a panel lists an amount, as Slimqa does with 100 mg, that figure refers to the extract itself, not to the amount of raw beans it was drawn from. A tidy rule of thumb: compare amounts only between the same kind of ingredient, and never between an extract and a whole food.
A note for coffee lovers
If coffee is a favorite part of your day, nothing about the stick asks you to give it up. You can keep your usual order and simply choose whether the stick goes into the cup or into a glass of water. The one habit worth building is the arithmetic: total caffeine for the day, stick included. The chromium and caffeine guide shows how to do that sum in under a minute.
